The Avery Coonley School

Kenny joined The Avery Coonley School in 2023 as the School’s first Director of STEAM Innovation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Radiation, and Applied Physics with a Math minor from Eastern Illinois University and a Master in Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining Avery Coonley, Kenny was the Science Department Lead Teacher and Faculty Founder at Wolcott College Preparatory High School in Chicago. He is a current Teacher Ambassador for UBTECH, Pitsco Education, and Glowforge as well as a TEDx Organizer. Throughout his career, Kenny has won various awards and grants with students for engineering projects. In 2023, Kenny established Avery Coonley's FIRST® LEGO® League robotics club and he continues to grow and expand project-based learning and STEAM education at Avery Coonley. Born in Chicago, Kenny enjoys spending time with his wife and children, gardening, inventing, and designing new innovative projects with students.
